Officer duties include:
Ensure rescue boat launched and manned BEFORE any dinghy can sail
Race Course set
Start race at 12.30 OR as soon as three boats are launched and ready to race
Everyone using club boats has signed in and all fees paid
Control and keep records of the races
Buoyancy Aids are worn by all members and guests when on the lake and jetty
Sailors under 18 are wearing a safety helmet when afloat
All equipment packed away at the end of the day
RACE INSTRUCTIONS
1) Decision to Race - Competitors participate entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after racing.
2) Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
3) The course will be posted in the club house – please ensure you check it and understand it. If in doubt – ask !
4) Any boat over the start line or on the course side of the start line after the one minute signal has gone, MUST sail back around the start line buoy and cross the start line again.
5) Sound signals :-

4 blasts on the hooter = 5 minutes to the start |
|
3 blasts on the hooter = 2 minutes to the start. |
|
2 blasts on the hooter = 1 minutes to the start. |
|
1 blast on the hooter = start. |
|
2 short blasts after the start = general recall – the race will be restarted |
|
3 short blasts after the start = abandonment of the race |
6) If any boat (or any part of any boat including the boom etc.) makes contact with a buoy that they are required to sail around (as part of the course). A 360 degree turn MUST be taken as soon as it is safe to do so without obstructing other boats, alternatively retire from the race.
7) If you think you have fouled another boat, or you have made contact with another boat and you are in the wrong, you MUST make a 720 degree turn or retire from the race.
